Lifa HS 3G Filter

The Lifa High Security Filter system is specifically designed to provide protection against both biological and chemical agents.

The multi-stage filtration consists of 3G Filter, which removes most of the particulate and gaseous pollutants. Then the polluted air passes through the ULPA (Ultra Low Penetration Air) filter, which retains the finest impurities, solid and liquid as well as radioactive particles. Optional ultraviolet (UV) lights are used to destroy bacteria collected on the particle. The air flows then through the activated carbon filter, which can adsorb gases by physical and chemical action. A centrifugal fan compensates the pressure drop caused by the ULPA and adsorption filters. The Lifa 3G Filter is used as a pre-filter to reduce clogging of the ULPA-filter and loading of the NBC-filter thus allowing continuous protection of the occupants.

  • Filtration solutions are equipped either with fixed stump (model k) or wheels (model m)
  • System can be installed as an integrated part of the ventilation system or as a separate unit to filtrate and circulate indoor air
  • System (model k) can work simultaneously as an as an integrated part of the ventilation system and as a unit to filtrate and circulate indoor air
  • When system is installed as a part of the ventilation system, there is no prefiltrer
  • System has an own blower in each unit
  • System has to be connected to electricity
  • System is equipped also with NBC carbon filter
  • Filtration efficiency has been measured for particles (> 0,1 mm) and gases
  • UV-light can be installed as an accessory
  • Systems are EMC protected
  • When the system is equipped with UV-ligths then the letters UV will be added to the end of product name

Particle filtration

The current standard for filtering biological agents from an air stream is the High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter. A component of all filtration units used by the military and the nuclear industry, the HEPA filter is normally placed upstream of the carbon filter to remove not only biological agents and solid aerosols but also liquid aerosols. It also protects the carbon filter from atmospheric dust.

The minimum filtration efficiency for HEPA filters is specified as 99.97% at the 0.3 micrometer (micron) particle size. Thanks to the efficient 3G Filter and ULPA filter in series the Lifa High Security Filter has even a much higher efficiency of 99.9999%+ at 0.3 micron.

Gas phase filtration

The standard for filtering chemicals is a packed bed of activated, impregnated carbon granules. A carbon filter employs two different processes to remove molecules from an air stream, namely physical adsorption and chemical reaction.

Testing of carbon filter

The performance of Lifa High Security activated carbon against chemical war gases has been tested for example with the following substitute gases:

  • chloropicrin for the physical adsorption (nerve gases)
  • cyanogen chloride for the chemical adsorption
